Re-interpretation of the first 60 lines of episode 11 of Ulysses. This laser cut and engraved book explores each sentence fragment as its own page, each with a unique typographic interpretation, as well as adding a tactile element to it. Part of the Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection

The book seeks to translate the at first disorienting text into a physical, tactile experience, drawing from the phonic and musical forms expressed in its prose. The final product is (much like a siren) seductive, prompting the audience to get closer to it, touch it, feel it.

The layering of acrylic presents the cacophony of the chapter as something beautiful, to be paid attention to. The viewer is prompted to spend time with the piece, experiencing the book either as a whole or as a paced experience.
